Since BROTHER’s inception on the Sydney pub scene more than ten years ago (the essential breeding ground for acts such as INXS, AC/DC, Midnight Oil and Men at Work), the music of this Indie success story has evolved around some powerful constants. Distinctive vocal harmonies; rock melodies; strong, evocative lyrics; and the hallmark sounds of bagpipes & the didgeridoo (the Australian Aboriginal ceremonial instrument).
BROTHER is one of the most successful Indie exports Australia has made to the US. As a result of constant touring over the last 8 years, BROTHER has established a strong fan base across the entire country. The key to this success is BROTHER’s dynamic, emotion-charged live performance, which showcases songs that leave a powerful and lasting impression. Along with composing their own music, and in the spirit of Ani DiFranco, BROTHER has self-produced and released 7 of their own CD's through their label, Rhubarb Records. To date their catalog sales exceed 100,000 units.
Brother were part of Celtic Grove's original playlist and continue to be a big part of our retinue. They were one of the first bands to aid the cause of our online community with CD's and promotional material. A devastating car crash in the spring of 2000 threatened the lives of the band members - some of whom spent weeks in hospital. Today Brother are bigger than ever and tour 12 months a year. Their spirit and determination are a tribute to the enduring soul of Celtic music.
